Last day of hol's, goin'-ome tuhmorra

The last few day's have been a blast.

Take today for example:

Today I managed about two hours surfing and a few more body and boogie board surfing whilst mum and dad built sand castles on the beach with the kids.

Surfing - If you haven't I can't explain the feeling. Waves, powerful enough that given time will wear down headlands and reshape coastlines. Powerful enough to smash you teeth as they pile drive you arse through your neck if you fuck up. But awesome fun to play with dancing on a 6' length of pointy fiberglass bristling with blade like fins. Surfing is big, for many it is life. There are the finer points of wax selection, of etiquette, of leg rope selection - the culture and fashion, wave selection, fitness, your skill, pin tail or wedge. It goes on and on - if you are not initiated you will never find a way in.

Today I had one of the rarest surfing experiences - fantastic waves, a peaky steep right, all too myself. I had the joy of ride after ride of consistent waves in crystal clear water, of being underwater watching my reflection in the surface whilst duck diving under 1.5m curls.

My base of my ribs are sore from paddling and my arms are sore from dragging the board through the surf - but it is a good kind of sore.

After surfing and lunch on a picnic rug in the park, where the kids and I devoured a few hamburgers, with beetroot cauz were Aussie we got back and enjoyed the heat and suffered the view whilst savoring the beer mum dropped in my hand. Had a rest and then drove up the coast a ways to pick up Patrick - a 16 yo school kid who lives on the neighboring property from school in the next town. He took me fishing out on his boat. 6 magnificent fathead later we were heading back in only to be stopped by the dolphins trapped in the lake. (vid later).

Dinner was a sav blanc and fathead fillets in batter - so fresh they were quivering.

Raff is playing a fellow Spaniard in Melbourne whilst I'm sipping the last of the West Australian white.

How was your day?

It is stinking hot. Glad I get to play at the beach all day.

I've been teaching Annliase how to get around in the surf, duckdive, etc. Today she caught her first wave in the surf.

How Aussie can you get?

Australia, under our last leader took a strong stance on 'boat people', economic migrants and refugees who attempt the dangerous sea crossing from Asia to Australia in barely seaworthy craft. We have locked these people away in island detention centers or out in the deserts. Labeled them 'queue jumpers', devastated their lives and chit chatted about their predicament on talk back radio for years. These two guys however deserve admiration and respect - what could be more Aussie than sailing here - in an esky.

Just purchased a house.

My wife and I have just been grown ups and gone and bought a house.
Now we are going to celebrate 7 figure debt by drinking a bottle of something cheep and go and see a burlesque show.

Eccentrica Gallumbits

Doing a totally unrelated search I came across a page from Christian Analysis of American Culture (CAP Ministry) which seeks to protect our eternal selves from damnation by rating movies from a christian perspective.., in this case the movie version of Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers Guide. Why not, I mean any tranche of society which upholds the murder of the Canaanite king with a tent peg through the head as fitting (Judges 4:17-24), takes it's moral code from Deuteronomy "Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God." (Dut 13 11-ish) and casually teaches its kids that it was just of God to kill all the children of Egypt should have a rather interesting take on what is acceptable family viewing.

Follow the link, now scroll down

On the right of the page is a little histogram showing how the film rates and below that is some examples of the films imorality: I note their first complaint is the destruction of the world.... Why is this a problem - Don;t Christians universally pray for the second coming - the rapture. Have they not actually read revelations?

The next few points focus on other acts of violence, WTF!?!?!, here's the results of a 30 second exploration of an online bible:

"I will sweep away everything in all your land," says the LORD. "I will sweep away both people and animals alike. Even the birds of the air and the fish in the sea will die. I will reduce the wicked to heaps of rubble, along with the rest of humanity," says the LORD. "I will crush Judah and Jerusalem with my fist and destroy every last trace of their Baal worship. I will put an end to all the idolatrous priests, so that even the memory of them will disappear. For they go up to their roofs and bow to the sun, moon, and stars. They claim to follow the LORD, but then they worship Molech, too. So now I will destroy them! And I will destroy those who used to worship me but now no longer do. They no longer ask for the LORD's guidance or seek my blessings." (Zephaniah 1:2-6 NLT)

At his command the oceans and rivers dry up, the lush pastures of Bashan and Carmel fade, and the green forests of Lebanon wilt. In his presence the mountains quake, and the hills melt away; the earth trembles, and its people are destroyed. Who can stand before his fierce anger? Who can survive his burning fury?(Nahum 1:2-8 NLT)

Clearly no earth destroying violence there.

CAP Ministry score a ZERO - see me after class for not paying attention on 'Immorality' - They take issue with a woman in a towel but I see no mention of Eccentrica Gallumbits the the triple-breasted whore of Eroticon Six. Were they too busy enjoying the buy two get one free deal???

Anyway enough Christian bashing - too easy a target, but I do wonder what rating the CAP Ministry would give the Bible.

Draw nearer draw nearer.

Two of the Erickson Sky Crane helicopters were operating continuously for a few hours within earshot of the Uni yesterday afternoon. Bloody hell they are impressive machines. My intestines are still throbbing from the percussive blast of the rotors massaging my innards. The little boy in me want's to be a sky cowboy and fly one of those babies.

Some of this footage (the beginning and @ around 1 min or so) is local - the rest is from SA.

Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated ...etc.

Sorry for the break in transmission.

I am alive an all is well.

The end of last year got hectic both at work and at home and I've been on a nice long holiday. What blogging time I have had I've put into splitting this blog into two.

It's too smartarsed for a family blog and too family for a smartarsed blog.

The family stuff I'll password protect post by post on a WP blog and the informal stuff will live here, for all the world to see.

Thanks for all the love btw - Now.... If anyone can suggest a glue to help whith kitty's fur...
