Aberrations Abbreviations:
What is normal play for you?
I'd be thinking that:
BBBJTCWS / CIM / DT
CG / RCG / DS / Mish / Spooning
DATY / DATO / Teabag
BBFS
DAP / PM
DFK
light BDS&M, toys
MSOG
69

Would you add anything?

Mumbai
Sinse yesterday morning I've been following what news there is on Mumbai. Various people trapped in hotels have been texting, and calling the outside world - connected by their mobiles. Everyday indians have been twittering and posting blogs of their expirences.
Annadon and Arun Shanbhag in particular have been posting from their homes on the same block as one of the hotels involved. Vinu has been posting photos on flickr.
Here is some of Arun Shanbhag latest blog post ..

This morning as I saw smoke billowing from the windows of the Taj, I was composed!
When I heard about my friend’s brother being shot and encountered his wailing family, I was composed!
When I saw blood of the Leopold waiter pooled on the sidewalk with his tray still in the blood, I was composed!
But when I saw the dome of the Taj burning, my heart bleeds! It is all in knots!
I am overwhelmed! Finally tears, … in torrents!
NOW! I am … very, very sad!
I can’t do this!
I can’t watch this!
WIll the Taj be there when I wake up?
How can I sleep! I am scared to walk up to the terrace and look out!
Oh No!
......
Just got back from a short walk to see my friend. His brother was killed by the terrorists last night. The terrorists started shooting inside/outside the Leopold Cafe;
.......
After the shooting, people started running inside the lane (Nowroji Lane). Just past the Leopold is a row of shops which my friend and his family own.
A pool of blood in front of my barber shop.
Apparently, one of the waiters from the Leopold who was shot was running (with his round serving tray). He was shot in the head; He fell and died on the street right there. See the chalk circle by the feet of the guy on the extreme right? That is where the police found a bag filled with explosives.
That is where I go for a haircut every week.
Pool of blood of victim from Terrorist Killing Leopold Cafe Mumbai Blasts
This is so painful - but we should all see these pics and be MAD at the terrorists; Pool of blood of the waiter; He had rushed out of the Leopold with his serving tray, which is still in the pic.

Pool of blood where another of the victims was shot; four or more victims were within a few feet of each other.

More blood;

One of the victim’s chappals still on the road.

I went to visit my friend whose brother was killed in front of this store. On hearing the shots, customers rushed in, and so did his father (who works as a tailor in a neighboring store). The kid ran out to pull the metal shutter down.
Chemist shop where friend was killed outside
He did bring the shutter down (and possibly saved the others inside), but he ended up outside the store. The terrorists were shooting indiscriminately; he caught five bullets; One went through and through his stomach! They operated on him till 5 am when he was pronounced dead. His body is undergoing an autopsy. His family and relatives were wailing loudly when I visited. I could not bear to enter, but called my friend outside to offer my condolences. He leaves behind a wife and two kids.

The smaller hole
For the first time since getting married I have gone back to using the smaller hole. Perhaps it is the extra gym work, perhaps holding back on the extra blue cheese and red wine but I have dropped a belt size in recent weeks. So much so I got wolf whistled at a the pool last week - OK, so what if it was from a menopausal librarian - there's a first time for everything.

Found them - you can stop looking everybody

In the gym bag. I must have vagued out after the 2h spin / pump back to back gym marathon on Monday that left me gasping and feeling as if I had bled out. I usually cope with being a scatter brain by attaching my keys to my belt loop via a 'bina - oh so high fashion I know but that's a price I'm willing to pay for being able to open the front door when I get home.
In other news I'm having more trouble deciding what to wear today than figuring out what to wear to a swingers party. I've been invited to a graduation for one of my staff; to tie or not to tie, that is the question. French cuffs or dress down?
I need your help people.

Chopstick etiquette

Chinese people seem happy to pick up the bowl and shovel everything in with their chopsticks. What's the etiquette here: is it more polite / refined to leave the bowl on the table or does it not matter? Can you talk when you have your mouth full or your face covered by the bowl? How do you pick up more food from a communal plate if you have already stuck your chopsticks in your mouth? - surly you can't put them back into the mix sharing your bird flue with everyone else. But most importantly - can you pick up the disposable plastic trays of food when you eat Chinese takeaway?, because it looks like your eating from a trough. And if you can do it with Chinese food, can you get away raising the bowl with Thai as the Thais don't even use chopsticks.

Reading to Adrian
He obviously knows the meaning of the word "Bump".
Apologies for the quality (mobile phone) and my nasal Kermitesque Australian accent.

Ol skool
I went to Warrawee Public School way back in the 70s' About a year ago I was driving past on some errand or another and pulled over, jumped the fence and sat on some of the old seats that I used to sit on at lunch when I was 6 or so.
I have few really clear memories from childhood, one of them is sitting on those seats, paper bag containing a carrot, Vegemite sandwich, a block of cheese and a packet of chips in hand wondering what I would look like 'when I was a man'. I remember what I was wearing, what the bark chips and dirt underfoot smelt like, the feel of the waxed paper wrapping. I remember who was next to me, and what other kids were doing, I remember how I felt. I remember staring at my knees and trying to make a photo in my brain that I would be able to see when I was a man. To know me now.
So I sat there on what looked to be the same wooden seats thinking about the life that stretches back. Back to that same seat, a third of a century ago. Of just how unimaginable life is to a kid and I want to ruffle the young me's head and tell him that it's pretty good. Don't worry so much, Oh, and you probably shouldn't put all the lizards and cicadas in Mrs Woolstencroft's draw because you will get the cain.

the Wallabies are out
The only consolation being that at least the all blacks suffered a worse humiliation by being beaten by the French.

Just a little bit Hitchcock
There is something mildly creepy about the way the natives pose themselves whilst we have breakfast.

Surveyors of destruction
The white destroyers have been making regular visits in the morning. They used to graze out the back of the house on the grass that, due to the plumbing work, no longer exists. They seem so smug - something about the tilt of their head or the jaunt of a wing that seems to say - look at this wreck, arrrrhhhhhhhhh - sucker -

Flotsam and jetsam
The flooding is easing, albeit with some spectacular detritus. One of my workmates captured these extraordinary pictures.

Enough Eggs already
Easter is supposed to be about nodding your head and saying yes - I believe that a Middle Eastern Tribesman got nailed up to a tree some 2000 years ago for suggesting that people should be nice to each other. Regardless of whether you think this one event in all the killings that have gone before or after is especially relevant I would ask that you refrain from celebrating this by giving my kid little chocolate morsels that; A) can kill her, and B) will lead to me the inevitable breakdown in the father daughter relationship when I raise my voice at her for not eating her dinner when she has a belly full of chocolate.

A post post
I did a post about a year ago that I think was one of my best.
.
..
...
nobody commented on it.
So I'm drawing attention to it here so you can all go and read it and tell me how wonderfully eclectic and clever I am or possibly just ask me who Eric Banner is.

Between 500 and 3,000 snake bites occur each year in Australia
Another young person has died from a snake bite in Sydney. So, just in case you find yourself on the wrong end of an Eastern Brown, or a Death Adder or an Inland Taipan or any Australian Snake or the Funnel Web Spider (but not for a Red Back or other spider).
Rest - as in lie down and don't move - stick the hand or foot that was bitten up on your backpack or a log or up hill or one your friend.
Bandage with a board bandage wraping from the body out towards the extremity - note - don't tourniquet just firm pressure like a good hand shake. don't cover or touch the wound. Most Australian snakes have grooved not hollow fangs so most of the venom remains on the skin. Washing or touching or wrapping the wound site will introduce more venom into the wound. Additionally, traces on the skin can be used to identify the snake and select the appropriate antivenin. Venom travels through the lymphatic system so your bandage is meant to stop or restrict lymphatic fluid, not blood. If you don't have a bandage you can use your jeans or a folded shirt. The lymph system has those little valve things that along with muscular contraction pump the fluid around - so not waving your bloody arm or leg around in agony will go along way towards keeping you alive. Don't move, not even to pee - just pee in your pants.
Send for help - you are with a friend aren't you? no - how about your mobile phone or a bit of shouting. If you really are out in teh sticks you may need to start a bush fire to get attention - I reckon that that will bring people looking quick smart
Don't be a bloody idiot and walk several kilometers on a hot day for help - you will be dead
For a Red Back just use ice - the venom is necrotic and slow moving any way. Reducing the circulation will only serve to increase the local effect without changing the survivability of the bite.
