The Tempest

photos from SMH

So last night we had the wildest storm. A great green wall descending from turbulent dark gray clouds that seemed to build and boil at least 3km into the sky, their peaks lit from behind with late afternoon sun. The wall was a solid fixture of rain, hail, leaves, branches, cockatoos and sheet iron that hit the car with such a blast our two tone 4x4 veered into the next lane. Within minutes the water on the road was up the the axles.

Amid the flash and crash of thunder three year old Daniel started singing "Rain drops are falling on my head"

What the. . .? People are just chillin'. . .it looks like the world is coming to an end.

(I clicked on the SMH link and it says, "Here comes summer" and I was like geez. . .this guy hasn't updated in awhile. Then, of course, I realized duh!. . . Happy summer!)

I love the fact it can be clear blue skies in 3 directions and yet still start pissing down rain in a matter of seconds. Certainly keeps you on your toes.

I was about to congrat you on the photo jon, and then I realised the attribution to the SMH. They are some truly awesome pics. BTW, I had no idea on the Daniel story. That kid is a hoot!

(FYI - for those who don't know, I am Daniel's father)

Fabulous pictures I agree. I found them too and sent them to overseas friends who loved them.

I hope your dad's medical business goes ok.

That was a brilliant storm! I was home and it rolled in so quickly, raped and devastated anything in its wake, and fucked off.

Just the way I like it.
